So what is your guys' opinion on when a single mom or dad should start dating again, when they have a child in like 5th or 6th grade, and they just divorced? Obviously the child is old enough to know what's going on at that age. When is it appropriate to start dating again? When should you introduce your new gf/bf to your child?

The divorced parents must inform their child they are starting dating again and explain why she need to do it. Explain also that they are dating to exchange their mothers or fathers but to find someone in life that their life happy and probably would help them

I personally think it is ok after three to four months of being divorced. I know some people say you should wait 1 year to start dating after being divorced. It is important to talk to your children about the divorce and dating someone new. The children should understand what is going on and what they should expect with a new person in their father or mother's life. So my opinion is, solidify your home life first, then start thinking about dating and your personal social life. hope this helps.

I really don't think that you can put a time on this as these kinds of stuff usually happen when you least expect it. I think that single parents should date whenever they feel they are ready. Bt most importantly the one that you date should ALWAYS be good to your child. If your child doesn't approve then drop it!
