My son, who is 17, has been very aggresive for a while and has hit me and calls me names and smashes things up. Like for instance, he rips out the light fixings from the ceilings, pulls the radiator fixings from the wall, throws orange juice over the floor etc.

Do you think that this is just something certain teenagers go through? Should I put up with it if he hits me or breaks up the house or should i contact social services or the police? I dont like to do this as it is my son but i am at my wits ends. I could do with some advice.

Hi Jeff

No this certainly is not normal!! Your son should be disciplined and there is no excuse to behave that way. The sooner he stop the better otherwise he will do it to other people as well. I think you should maybe see a family counsellor with your child and find the best solution to this problem. I'm not sure if calling social services or the police is the best choice... This may just make things worse
